Dali Wireless and ASOCS to introduce integrated end-to-end virtual-Radio Access Network (virtual-RAN) solution at Mobile World Congress 2017

February 27th, 2017 – Menlo Park, Calif. and Rosh Ha’ayin, Israel – Dali Wireless, Inc., leader in fronthaul innovation for virtual radio access networks (RAN), and ASOCS Ltd., a pioneer in virtual-RAN and provider of network function virtualization (NFV)-compatible virtual base station (vBS) solutions, today announced a joint initiative to provide virtual-RAN for carriers and enterprises. The companies will demonstrate the new solution in Dali Wireless’ booth #6J60 at Mobile World Congress 2017.

This solution combines Dali’s virtual Fronthal Solution with ASOCS’ virtual Base Station solution to create a disruptive, end-to-end virtual RAN that delivers an order of magnitude increase in capacity at lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This highly scalable solution enables large venues in sectors such as sports, hospitality, healthcare and real estate to provide next-generation telecommunications services as well as support for add-on applications and secure Mobile Edge Computing (MEC).

Dali’s virtual Fronthaul Solution virtualizes the radio resources of a network producing a highly elastic multipoint-to-multipoint configuration that improves network efficiency and bandwidth management. Dali’s fully digital solution ensures superior signal quality and is highly flexible and scalable. Leveraging Software Defined Networking (SDN), it works with any wireless technology or transport, adapts to any topology, and easily scales to add MIMO, new operators, new frequency bands, and IP pass through.

ASOCS’ vBS is a fully virtualized Base Station capable of running software of all layers and functions on virtual machines.  Virtualization of baseband processing on Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) servers reduces operational and capital expenditures. Performing real-time baseband processing allows for dynamic and automated allocation of baseband resources based on actual data traffic, and eliminates the need to over provision base stations to meet peak demand.

The Dali-ASOCS integrated solution provides complete end-to-end virtualized RAN with unmatched network efficiency, and a greatly improved user experience at a significantly reduced TCO. Based on jointly conducted research, Dali Wireless and ASOCS forecast CapEx savings of up to 65 percent and OpEx savings that can reach nearly 80 percent for network owners transitioning from a traditional RAN to the Dali-ASOCS end-to-end virtual RAN solution. As capacity demand grows, these savings translate into a capacity increase of more than ten times, at no additional cost.
